What belt are you?
Among martial artists, this is a commonly asked question.
Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is, the skill set of some martial artists do not match the belts they are wearing. They are being deceitful, living a lie, pretending to be something they are not.
Sadly, this is sometimes due to the fact that their instructors did not have the integrity to not deceive their students. Instructors like these care more about how much money they can get from the students than they are concerned with properly teaching and assessing the skill sets of their students.
Such instructors are doing a grave disservice to the student and the martial arts style they represent.
This is deceptive and dishonorable. They are acting like the devil (see John 8:44).
God desires that we live honest lives of integrity and truth. But how do we do this?
What is Truth?
STAND FOR TRUTH!
Once again, the Bible says, "Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth..." - Ephesians 6:14 (NKJV).
We have to make conscious decisions to tell the truth. We have to actively engage in wrapping ourselves in truth.
Whether you are a martial arts instructor, martial arts student, a spectator, or even a person just following a crowd...
Do it to become a person of integrity. Do it to honor God. Do it to represent the One True Master, Jesus Christ.
